This Department Head position is responsible for identifying and enrolling new Members. The Membership Manager nurtures relationships with existing Members so that they will invite their friends and colleagues to the club (resulting in “Membership by Invitation”).  In addition, they will assist with the coordination of and attend activities with Members and their guests to demonstrate “Pride in Belonging.”   

The Membership Manager develops relationships in the community through Chamber and Business affiliations, identifies and attends Trade Shows conducive to sales as well as setting appointments to meet face to face with prospects within the community. S/He ensures the enrollment process is complete and records Membership profile information.  S/He is responsible for setting and achieving the Club’s Membership sales goals.

In addition, S/He generates a definitive sales and marketing plan to achieve departmental revenue goals as well as tracks activity to determine effective outcome.  The Membership Manager is an advocate and ambassador of the Feather Sound Country Club Service and understands the critical role that Membership development and exceeding expectations play in regards to the success of the operation.


Responsibilities to include but not limited to:

  • Maintain & update membership spreadsheet.
  • Drives new member acquisition and retention
  • Processes and maintains member accounts and profiles in the IBS data base system.
  • Answer inquiries regarding membership and member account status.
  • Establishes, plans and implements strategies to meet membership retention and growth goals.
  • Establishes metrics to help determine success of program.
  • Solicit feedback from members to improve membership activities and services.
  • Retain current members by communicating with them regularly and assisting in the development of new programs for members.
  • Maintains database of prospects and leads. Actively solicits organizations and groups interested or involved with golf and Tennis.
  • Helps identify and define membership offerings to meet market demands.
  • Follows-up on marketing efforts, club referrals, leads from members, staff, etc.
  • Assists in the development and production of applicable membership marketing collateral.
  • Provides membership sales information and other applicable training for staff members.
  • Tracks the success and overall performance of all membership activities and develops reports for staff and ownership.
  • Attends management meetings to discuss challenges, develop solutions and achieve results.  
  • Reconciles purchase orders with invoices and forwards to accounting
  • Participates in professional development activities to identify and implement industry best practices.
  • Process weekly and monthly reports
  • Complete special projects and assignments as requested
  • Answer phone calls when receptionist is unavailable
  • Develops relationships with surrounding clubs and continues to learn about other membership offerings.
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications and/or Experience: Bachelor’s Degree or Higher  

  • Must have three to five years sales experience or membership recruitment.
  • Must have a deep understanding of direct to consumer marketing with some hybridization in knowing how to market to groups.
  • Strong knowledge of market research and consumer understanding tools and techniques.
  • A working knowledge of golf, tennis and country clubs is strongly preferred. 

Computer Skills:

Must have a demonstrated proficiency with MS Office, Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel and a working knowledge of social media best practices (YouTube, Twitter and Facebook, etc.). Must also have strong research skills to analyze demographics and conduct comparative market analysis.  


Position Type and Expected Hours of Work:

This is a full-time salary plus commission position.
